Workspace Commercial Furniture is proud to have contributed to the beautifully executed transformation of The George Hotel — a sophisticated new addition to Glenelg’s iconic beachfront and South Australia’s hospitality scene.

In collaboration with 1834 Hotels and key project partners, Workspace was entrusted with the design, manufacture, and installation of the hotel’s custom joinery and interior detailing — delivering a refined and cohesive look across all guest and public areas.

Our scope of work included the bulk of the hotel’s custom joinery, featuring:

• Robes and minibar units

• Floating vanities and daybeds

• Integrated desks and bedheads

• Wall panelling and bespoke room dividers

Nightingale Marrickville is a purpose-built social and affordable housing facility managed by Fresh Hope Communities, completed in May 2024. The project provides essential, long-term housing for individuals in need - delivering compact private rooms with shared, thoughtfully designed communal spaces.

Recognising that each private unit includes only a small living area and room for a single bed, the commercial communal spaces were seen as a critical component of the building’s design. These areas were intentionally created to provide residents with space to gather, connect, and unwind - making the overall living experience more sustainable, supportive, and community-focused.

Workspace was proud to supply most of the furniture for the commercial areas. All pieces were selected and crafted to balance functionality, comfort, and durability—supporting long-term use and contributing to the overall warmth and liveability of the environment.

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with the newly opened Durham Serviced Apartments, a luxurious addition to the Legacy Hotels & Apartments portfolio, proudly South Australian owned and operated. Located in the picturesque beachside area of Glenelg, Adelaide, the Durham offers 56 premium studio apartments, blending comfort with cutting-edge design.

In December 2023, Durham Serviced Apartments welcomed its first guests, showcasing a range of custom furniture pieces provided by Workspace. Our collaboration included designing and supplying bespoke Break Coffee and Dining Tables, stylish Glove Chairs, and the comfortable Cove 2-Seater Lounge, among many other items.

Our team worked closely with the project managers to create a space that is not only functional and practical but also comfortable and welcoming for patients and staff alike.

Workspace extends their expertise within the hospitality sector through their recent development of the Intercontinental Hotel - Hayman Island Resort. Workspace worked closely with Intercontinental to develop, design, manufacture and install furniture solutions for their beachfront pavilions.

Opening in September 2022, Intercontinental Hayman Island Resort is one of Australia's most iconic island resorts. The 12 luxury adult-only beachfront pavilions are just steps from the coral sea and offers a complete luxurious stay. Each pavilion offers a king-sized bed, free standing bath and clean crisp interior design and alfresco balcony spilling out to a private heated plunge pool overlooking Hayman Bay.

Located right in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, South Terrace Precinct, HotelMOTEL welcomes guests 24 hours a day. Workspace recently had the pleasure of working with WoodsBagot on the Uniting Communities, U City Project which developed a community for retirement residences, specialist disability accommodation as well as accessible serviced apartments, function center, and offices. The U City project is a major city development for the Adelaide CBD, as the $100-million, 20 story building is now officially open!

The Bend Motorsport Park is one of the most significant developments in Australian Motorsport history. A state of the art, world-class Motorsport facility, The Bend delivers an exhilarating experience for competitors, enthusiasts and spectators alike. Developed and primarily funded by the Peregrine Corporation, South Australia’s largest private company, construction started on The Bend in early 2016 with the main motor racing circuit completed in April 2018 in time for the first events.

The newly renovated Trevu House at Gawler, part of Japara Healthcare  will provide an additional 23 residential aged care places in beautifully appointed accommodation, providing a home for 68 residents. Built in 1866, far from evoking the windswept Cornish landscape of its namesake, Trevu – with its position high on the hill, inspires calm with its tranquil surrounds. Preserving the look of the site and it’s many heritage listed features has been of paramount importance.

ViTA is a state of the art centre that supports older people to rehabilitate, regain health and live good lives. A progressive partnership between ACH Group, SA Health and Flinders University, ViTA combines best practice approaches to health and aged care with a focus on teaching and research – optimising health and wellbeing outcomes for people. Comprising long term, short term, transitional care and rehabilitation places, ViTA demonstrates real innovation in a sector that is undergoing radical change.

The 250 room Oaks on William hotel project comprised of both one and two bedroom style hospitality furniture packages. Workspace designed, manufactured and installed two variations of bespoke entertainment units in contrasting horizontal and vertical decors. Customised upholstered bedhead solution to incoproate power and lighting provision were design, manufactured and installed throughout.

The result is an ideal hospitality fit out with the comfort and style for short and long term stay.

Located in the heart of CBD, the Pullman Adelaide (formerly Crowne Plaza) features 308 luxurious and contemporary guest rooms and suites. It also includes public areas along with Redsalt Restaurant and a Business Centre.

The hotel also boasts many environmentally sustainable design initiatives throughout the complex.

Workspace worked with developer Hines Property Group and procurement expert Cairn Cross Martin, with planning and design, prototyping, manufacture and installation of almost four and a half thousand individual pieces of hospitality furniture and joinery.

The Lakes Resort Hotel hospitality fit out project included the design manufacture and installation of a refurbishment program for 40 of the Superior Deluxe Suites. The complete refurbishment program included the provision of custom integrated desk and cupboard units produced in Laminex Smoky Sapelle finish with matching edging.

Customised baggage racks, three panel bedheads and bedside tables in the matching décor bring consistency to the fit out.
