International Women’s Day 2017 – Promoting Women in Manufacturing

Today we are celebrating International Women’s Day 2017 at our HQ in Adelaide with one of our own – Olivia Cooper. Olivia commenced with Workspace Commercial Furniture in 2010, taking up an Upholstery Apprenticeship as part of the company’s annual apprenticeship intake. Working in a highly male oriented manufacturing environment, Olivia excelled across upholstery and chair fitting up divisions, winning the company Apprentice of the Year Award in 2011, and completing her apprenticeship in 2014. Olivia’s attention to detail, work quality and output were invaluable to those in production, sales and of course our clients. Seeking the next challenge Olivia has since become part of our eight strong planning team in 2015.

Currently as the only female in planning, Olivia supports the national sales team, working on the furniture planning requirements for projects across all commercial segments, and all values.

“Having commenced in production, I have the understanding of the intricacies and issues to translate the desired fit out into a practical product solution. The diversity of projects and work, keeps things interesting, and it’s great to be able to work in a strong team environment” (Olivia Cooper 6th of March 2017).

Workspace recognises the pivotal role woman play in manufacturing and the broader commercial design and construction markets. Today we are proud to celebrate all those who contribute to our industry.
