QUALITY POLICY

Workspace operates a Quality Management System which is independently certified by TQCS International for conformance to ISO 9001: 2015. We are among the first furniture manufacturers in Australia to be certified in October 1991.

Our Quality Policy states –

Workspace Commercial Furniture Pty Ltd manufactures and supplies a wide range of furniture products, principally for the commercial markets, in Australia and overseas.

The Workspace standard product guarantee warrants its products to be free from faults in workmanship and materials for a period of 10 years from the date of manufacture.

The focus of the Company’s activities at all times is total customer satisfaction, and in order to provide excellent customer service, superior quality furniture, we will improve our quality management system by -

to achieve this we will –

  • Setting objectives and targets and measuring our performance against these indicators

  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives in our manufacturing processes and products so that we meet the requirements of our customers and for the continued profitability of the company.

  • Ensuring our employees are trained and competent for the work they perform.

  • Continually strive to reduce the product return rate or customer complaint rate to zero.

  • Striving to deliver on time and in full for all customers.

  • Maintaining documented procedures and work processes in line with industry best practices

  • Complying with and continually improve the effectiveness of our quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001: 2015.

All management and employees are committed to meeting the above objectives and understand that quality is everyone's responsibility by working together and contributing to the overall success of Workspace Commercial Furniture.

As part of each employee’s induction, a copy of this policy is provided, together with the training necessary to ensure that the company’s objectives and targets are achieved.

Product Testing and Certificates

Workspace is a member of Furntech / AFRDI (Australian Furnishing Research and Development Institute) whose Blue & Green Tick product certification scheme is the recognised standard throughout the Australian furniture industry.

Many of the company’s products are certified by AFRDI for compliance with relevant Australian and international Standards – copies of current certificates are available from Workspace, or from the Furntech website.

Warranties

The Workspace standard product guarantee warrants its products to be free from faults in workmanship and materials for a period of 10 years from the date of manufacture.

This is specified in the Terms and Conditions of Sale, a copy of which will be provided on request.

ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Workspace operates an Environmental Management System which in accordance with ISO 14001:2015.

The Management and Employees of Workspace Commercial Furniture Pty Ltd are committed to ensuring that their operations and products have minimal harmful impact on the environment, by –

  • Providing and maintaining a clean and safe workplace

  • Monitoring and controlling the consumption of energy

  • Monitoring and controlling the selection and usage of materials and processes

  • Monitoring and controlling the production and disposal of waste

  • Setting environmental improvement objectives

The company ensures that it conforms to all relevant legal requirements for its operations, and sets and monitors objectives and targets for the prevention of pollution and for continual improvement of its Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2015.

Persons who carry out work at the Company’s site on behalf of the Company are requested to comply with all Workspace environmental practices and procedures.

This policy is basic to the Workspace plan for its operation and future development, and all employees at all levels are encouraged to share in the responsibility for achieving this result.

Workspace Commercial Furniture respects the environment and understands the importance of mitigating the impact our manufacturing processes might have on it.

Working harder than ever to reduce its ecological footprint, Workspace has adopted new sustainable business models and is constantly re-evaluating its products and processes.

Several products have AFRDI ‘Green Tick’ certification.  Workspace has attained ‘EcoVadis’ certification by reporting on actions or performance indicators that include Environmental, Fair Business Practices, Labour Practices & Sustainable Procurement

We have put in place programs to monitor, improve and report on waste management, energy and water consumption.

In reducing, wherever possible, the waste that inevitably results from production processes, at Workspace we also divert as much as we can from landfill, and we are proud of our achievements which is a credit to all our employees.

Other than recycling, Workspace also ensures it maintains a clean and safe workplace, monitoring and controlling the usage of materials and processes to maximise our efforts to avoid harming our environment. All employees have been provided with their own copy of the company’s policies, together with the necessary training to ensure all these objectives and targets are achieved.

ECODESIGN POLICY

The Management and Employees of Workspace Commercial Furniture Pty Ltd are committed to identify, control and improve the environmental aspects of a product/service at every one of its stages in order to minimise their environmental impact throughout the entire life cycle. We will link EMS (Environmental Management System) to design and development by:

  • Ensuring life cycle thinking is applied in design and development

  • Improving resource and process efficiency, minimising liabilities and reducing costs at all design stages in a product’s life cycle

  • Monitoring and controlling the selection and usage of materials and processes

  • Monitoring and controlling the design, development, production and disposal of waste

  • Making an effective contribution to sustainable development

The company ensures that it conforms to all relevant legal and regulatory compliance requirements for its operations, and sets and monitors objectives and targets for the prevention of pollution and for continual improvement of its Environmental Management Systems – Guidelines for incorporating ecodesign 14006:2020.

PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP

Workspace Commercial Furniture recognises its obligation as an Australian manufacturer of commercial furniture to have a policy in place related to Product Stewardship. Workspace acknowledges that we are involved in producing, selling, using and disposing of products and have a shared responsibility to ensure that those products or materials are managed in a way that reduces their impact, throughout their life-cycle, on the environment and on human health and safety.

Workspace aims to work within the Product Stewardship Act 2011 that provides the framework to effectively manage the environmental, health and safety impacts of products, and in particular those impacts associated with the disposal of products. Workspace will accept the return of any of our products to the factory located in Melrose Park, South Australia at the end of its life, for disposal or recycling as the Workspace sees fit, provided that there is no implied or actual financial cost to Workspace.

CAPABILITIES

Logistics and Supply Chain

Workspace provides its own network of national freight services direct to your project. We own our own fleet of prime movers, trailers and rigid trucks in each state branch to service clients and projects nationally.

We utilise electronic manifest systems to ensure every detail of the product requirements are identified and checked off prior to loading and despatch.

Workspace drivers and removalists are trained in professional packing methods and use specialised packing blankets to wrap products to prevent any possible damage.

Installation teams across the country are employed by Workspace. As key employees of the business they are familiar with our operations, and provide end-to-end value to our clients and all projects. With experience in Workspace workstations systems and furniture products, they provide an efficient on-site service for small and large projects alike.

Manufacturing 


Workspace’s factory is fully equipped with the latest production equipment including C.N.C. controlled point to point Borers, Beam Saws and Nesting machine, designed to handle large volumes of production. We maintain our own veneer and laminate pressing facility within the factory, allowing you to specify your own customised design and finish.

Our factory is made up of Joinery & Cabinet Making, Screening, Melamine & Laminate, Upholstery & Chair Fit-Up, Polish Shop, Machine Shop, Logistics and Research & Development sections.

Marketing

Our quality systems, longstanding manufacturing history and operational structure have gained us recognition by local and national authorities for supply to Local, State and Federal departments and agencies.

Workspace has supplied and installed furniture to numerous overseas Australian Embassies and Workspace is an approved/pre qualified supplier for the NSW Government.
